Under the new leader, parents and children were separated and had to live apart from each other, kids were forced to wake up at 5:30 AM every morning to do hard manual labor, two people now had to share a single futon, everyone was now allowed to eat only twice a day, all clothes became hand-me-downs because no one had sole ownership of anything, men and boys were forced to have buzz cuts while women and girls had to have short-cut hair, any money you have would now get immediately confiscated, and corporal punishment became a given.
